How to Make Your Logo Stand Out
Pretty much every business has a logo, but not all of those logos are memorable. Not everyone can give the world the Nike swoosh, Apple’s apple, or the Starbucks mermaid.
But that doesn’t mean your logo needs to be dull. After all, our customers who request a packing tape with logo do so because they hope to be noticed.
Here are a few ways to make that happen.
1. The importance of color
Color choice isn’t something that should be taken lightly. Different colors can trigger different emotions in us: blue signifies order, security and trust, while red says “Love, energy and passion.” The colors you choose need to be appropriate for your brand, while also distinct enough to make you stand out from your competition.
Keep in mind there are many colors that are offered as standard colors, such as Reflex Blue, Process Blue, and Black for example. Using a more unique color like teal or neon green might add additional custom color charges to your branding efforts when you go to print something like custom paper tape or labels.
2. Make it something you own
Instead of running with the pack and using a hackneyed logo design, try for something that’s unique. Starbucks is a good example. There’s no connection between mermaids and coffee – and you’d have to have read Moby-Dick to know where the name comes from – but it’s certainly memorable.
3. Simplicity is key
You may not be able to come up with an intricate logo design. But that’s OK. The Starbucks mermaid might have been based on a 16th century woodcut, but there are plenty of famous logos that are the height of simplicity – the swoosh from Nike, or Target’s target-shaped circles, for example.

Both tapes are fine for basic print jobs. Polypropylene tape uses a polymer plate for its printing, making it a stronger choice for print runs with a lot of details. PVC tape is printed using a kneaded rubber plate, which absorb ink over time and swells, making the printing thicker and details less defined.
4. Using negative space
Negative space is the background space around and between the main subject of your image. The most famous example of this in the world of logos is probably FedEx, in which the white space between the E and x forms an arrow.
It’s hard to spot. Some people go years without realizing it’s there, but it’s a nice example of using negative space to convey a message (in this case precision, speed, and forward movement).
5. Tell a story
Good logos come with a story. They’re not just an illustration, they carry meaning. The FedEx arrow is one example, but there’s also the way the bird in the Twitter logo is taking flight. A great logo can tell your prospective customers “This is what we’re all about.”
